Here we have a beautiful German Winselmann Titan Saxonia transverse shuttle fiddle base hand crank sewing machine dating from the late 19th century, fully serviced by Sussex Sewing Machines and sewing beautifully with a smooth and consistent stitch. Elegant, decorative and wonderfully mechanical, this Saxonia is a charming example of early German engineering.

Serial Number: 1175925

The Titan Saxonia machines were part of the wave of high-quality German transverse shuttle machines inspired by the famous Singer 12 design. Produced in the late 1800’s, they were renowned for their robust construction, decorative finishes and dependable straight stitch performance. This particular fiddle base example is especially eye-catching with its lovely original floral decals.

This stunning transverse shuttle machine is supplied with a delightful selection of period-style extras including spare needles, thread, a box of pins, spare bobbin and a collection of Joan Redgrave sewing notions as shown in the photographs.

Alongside this wonderful machine you will also receive a copy of Poppy Whitmore’s ‘The Thimblewick Mysteries’, adding a touch of cosy sewing nostalgia to the experience.

With this machine you will also receive a genuine collector’s thimble from The Thimble Collectors Club — ‘Kohshi Flower’ by YACHIYO, Japan — complete with its presentation box and certificate.

This Saxonia retains all the character you would expect from a well-loved antique machine with light age-related marks and the occasional tiny pin mark, all contributing to its authenticity and charm while remaining mechanically sound and ready to sew.

The machine is supplied with its original shuttle, stamped D.R.G.M (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster), a lovely period-correct detail confirming German registered design protection.

These early fiddle base machines make wonderful display pieces but are equally capable of gentle sewing, offering a beautiful glimpse into the craftsmanship of late Victorian sewing technology.

This machine does not include a wooden lid or cover and is offered exactly as pictured.

This elegant antique beauty will make a fantastic addition to any collection, sewing room or vintage interior.

This is an opportunity to acquire a very special machine!
