A magnificent early Frister & Rossmann TS 4-1 High Arm Transverse Shuttle sewing machine, dating from approximately 1907.

Serial number 1,227,567 places it close to the end of the highly decorative Oak Leaves series. With its elaborate gold decoration, ornate faceplate, polished handwheel and extensive accompanying collection, this is an exceptional surviving example of one of Frister & Rossmann’s finest early domestic machines.

The machine carries the brass badge of W. Pierssene, 49 Fore Street, London, the company’s sole English agent during this period. This fits perfectly with the serial-number date and adds another fascinating piece of documented history.

A Beautifully Preserved Early Frister & Rossmann

The sweeping oak-leaf decoration remains remarkably rich across the arm, pillar and bed. It retains its original wooden base, fitted locking cover, hand crank and distinctive transverse-shuttle mechanism.
