Here we have a beautiful and rather unusual “The Lee” hand-crank sewing machine, manufactured by Jones and supplied under the name of G. H. Lee & Co. of Liverpool.
G. H. Lee was one of Liverpool’s most famous department stores, with a history dating back to 1853. The business eventually became part of the John Lewis Partnership, making this lovely machine a fascinating little piece of British retail history.
Beneath its distinctive branding is the dependable Jones Family C.S., a beautifully engineered British sewing machine renowned for its reliability and quality stitching.
